Travel Point Travel Agency highly recommends this tour if you have limited time in Istanbul. You can save your time and money with our agency while experiencing one of the most scenic views of this historic city.
During this half-day tour, you'll cruise along both the Golden Horn and the Bosphorus Strait, enjoying lunch on board while taking in views of Istanbul's most famous landmarks from the water - a perspective that can't be matched from land.
What to Expect?
Golden Horn:
The Golden Horn, known as "Haliç" in Turkish, is a historic natural harbor located in the heart of Istanbul. Shaped like a horn, it's an inlet of the Bosphorus Strait that has played a significant role in the city's development for centuries. As we cruise along the Golden Horn, you'll see numerous historical and cultural landmarks situated along its shores, including the Galata Bridge which connects the neighborhoods of Eminönü and Karaköy.
Bosphorus Strait:
The Bosphorus Tour offers a captivating journey along the strait that separates Europe and Asia, providing panoramic views of Istanbul's iconic landmarks and historic sites. You'll see elegant waterside mansions (yalıs), impressive bridges spanning the strait, and experience the unique perspective of seeing Istanbul from the water. The Bosphorus cruise is considered a must-do activity for visitors as it allows you to witness the city's geographical and cultural essence in one journey.
Rumeli Fortress:
Built by Ottoman Sultan Mehmed II in 1452, Rumeli Fortress (Rumelihisarı) stands on the European shore of the Bosphorus at its narrowest point. This imposing fortress was strategically positioned to control maritime traffic and played a crucial role during the Siege of Constantinople in 1453. From the water, you'll get excellent views of this impressive example of Ottoman military architecture with its three main towers and thick defensive walls.
Asian Side and Maiden's Tower:
As you cruise along the Bosphorus, you'll get views of Istanbul's Asian side, known for its more relaxed atmosphere compared to the European side. You'll also see the iconic Maiden's Tower (Kız Kulesi), also known as Leander's Tower, situated on a small islet off the coast of Üsküdar. This historic tower has a long history dating back to ancient times and has become one of Istanbul's most recognizable symbols, surrounded by legends and myths.
